The NEW (& better) Way We Do Pocket Money In Our Home

.

So pocket money is a bit of a hot topic in the parenting world, especially when your children start school . There are various ways people do it, but the most traditional is to have a handful of jobs your children must do, to then receive a certain regular $ amount at the end of the week. The going rates seem to be anywhere between $5 - $10 depending on their age and your own personal circumstances. What ever the amount I know its more than we use to receive as kids - although that makes total sense as things are more expensive these days!

For us we rethought the whole 'pocket money' system once our son reached around 7 years old - read more about it here in 'A Better Way To Do Kids Pocket Money'. I think the main reason behind it was that I felt at the time he wasn't really understanding what it was like to 'work for money'. Yes he still got paid for doing jobs but it was the same weekly and it was always the same amount. There was no drive or motivation to achieve more.

So in the recent 'Simple Sundays Video - A Better Way To Do Pocket Money' I touched on how and why we have made the change. In today's exclusive VIP vlog I am going to go into it a little more on a personal level and show you exactly how we use the printable 6 pack 'Chores & Responsibilities By Age Group Pocket Money Printable' as seen below for both our 8 & 3 year old children.

We have found that this new system is working better for us to not only help simplify my life as a busy mum (the extra help has been a huge bonus), but to also teach some valuable life skills to our children. To have them truely understand what it means to work for things. To implement a great work ethic and sense of responsibility.
