So 2019 is here and so are our big summer school holidays! If you have been watching the grocery hauls since November you will know that I have been stockpiling a few things for this time in hopes I would save some money in not having to buy extra during this time.
So when I looked, 'shopped my pantry' and worked on my my meal plan for January I found I was in a pretty great position with items and meals on hand. I unpacked my items I had in my stockpiling tub and looked to see how many freezer meals I had left from the previous months batch cooking and left overs. As it was I had quiet a lot in my freezer still by the end of the month! I had around 14 items/meals plus some meats still. It wasn't that we didn't use anything in December with my meal planning, it was just that some things got swapped around or things popped up where we were not home for dinner eg at family or friends for dinner instead.
So looking at everything I decided I would try and stick within a $200 budget for this months grocery shop plus my usual $50 per week extras budget (usually adds up to $150 by the end of the month). So that would be a total of $350 for the entire month and just under $90 per week on average. This allows for some extra money during the holidays for some extra fun with the kids for teh holidays. Super!
