I have been forever trying to find the perfect pizza dough that I can make myself and that we all love as a family. Finally I have found it and now it’s to my go to!

Ingredients: Makes 1 Pizza Base

  • 7g x Dry Yeast (I use 7g pre portioned dry yeast packets)
  • 1 x Teaspoon Of Sugar
  • 1 x Cup Of Warm Water
  • 2 1/2 x Cups Of Bread Flour
  • 1/2 x Teaspoons Of Table Salt
  • 1 x Tablespoon Of Olive Oil
To complete your pizza - have on hand pizza sauce, shredded cheese and your favourite toppings.

 

 

Method:

Pre heat oven 220c.


1. Activate Yeast - In a bowl combine 1 cup of warm water, 1 teaspoon of sugar and 7g of dry yeast.  Leave for around 10-15 minutes until there are some bubbles starting to form. 

2. In a large bowl mix together 2 1/2  cups of bread flour and 1/2 teaspoon of table salt. Make a well in the center and pour in the yeast mix. Bring together gently with your hands.

3. When almost all mixed together, add 1 tablespoon of olive oil and further mix with hands until you form a dough ball.

4. Knead your dough on a lightly floured bench for around 10 minutes Until dough becomes soft, smooth and stretchy. It is done when you poke with your finger and it slowly bounces back! 

5. Let Your Dough Rise - You now have to let your dough rise. To do this grease a bowl with more oil. Cover with cling wrap and let it sit for 30 to 40 minutes at room temperature to rise. It needs to be close to double its size. Do not knead again.   

6. On a floured bench gently flatten and stretch out your dough. You can use a floured rolling pin, but be very gentle don’t push too hard.         
7. Transfer to a nonstick pizza pan or a baking sheet lined with baking paper if you don’t have a pizza pan. Poke with a fork over the surface to help release heat. 

8. Brush top with some olive oil, add pizza sauce, small amount of shredded cheese and your toppings of choice. Finally sprinkle with some more shredded cheese and bake in the oven for 15 to 30 minutes, until cheese is melted with a touch of golden colour.
